Visualization pays off for Fassi

Mayakoba, Quintana Roo, May 24, 2025.- María Fassi concluded with a 71-stroke card (-1) in the third round of the MEXICO Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba, improving her performance of the two previous rounds.

The player from Hidalgo has a total of 218 (+2) after the three rounds, a situation she attributes to the work she has done since she learned that, after eight years, our country would once again host an LPGA tournament, among which is the visualization.

“Fortunately I prepared a lot, since I knew that the tournament was going to be played here, I have been preparing for almost a year now, because it is difficult, Lorena (Ochoa) said it all her career, how difficult it was to come to play in Mexico. I am happy with the work I have done with my team, because they prepared me in the best way to come here”, she said.

He explains that on his part there was a lot of work to imagine himself with good results. “Fortunately, I have played this course several times and I had the chance a year ago to begin to visualize myself shooting good shots, with a lot of people around me, to visualize my family accompanying me and I think that in the end that gave me a lot of peace of mind. When it was my turn to hit my first shot on Thursday on the 10th hole, I had already hit it thousands of times, so it was like ‘very well, the day has come’. I had already experienced this many times, at the end of the day the visualization was one of the many things that helped me the most,” he shared.

Fassi regretted that the rest of the Mexicans did not make the cut, but assured that they are all grateful to GS Sports Management.

“Being the first tournament and being eight Mexicans playing this week we wanted to do well, but it didn’t go the way we wanted. Even for me, I got to play on the weekend, but I’m not in the position I would like to be. Although if you ask the eight of us, I think we are extremely proud and grateful to the Santoscoy family who brought the tournament to Mexico, who believed again in Mexican golf and that we have LPGA for a while here.
