Nelly Korda Headlines the 2026 México Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba
- Korda will play in Mexico for the first time
- A showcase of excellence at the MÉXICO Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba
Mayakoba, Quintana Roo, February 12, 2026. — The second edition of the MÉXICO Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba will feature American star Nelly Korda, currently ranked No. 2 in the world. It will mark the first appearance in Mexico for one of the most popular players in global sports.
Fans attending El Camaleón Golf Course from April 30 to May 3 will have the opportunity to watch one of the LPGA’s leading figures in action. Korda recently captured the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in Orlando, the event that opened the 2026 season. That victory represented the 16th title of her career, which already includes two Major championships.
Winning the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions moved the 27-year-old Korda to within seven points of induction into the LPGA Hall of Fame, which requires 27 points. Each regular LPGA Tour victory is worth one point, while Major titles are worth two. A Vare Trophy and Rolex Player of the Year award each grant one point, as does an Olympic gold medal — an achievement she accomplished at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Last season, Korda competed in 19 events and made the cut in all of them. She recorded nine top-10 finishes, including runner-up results at both the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions and the U.S. Women’s Open.
Korda joined the LPGA Tour in 2017 and was named Rookie of the Year. The following season she earned her first major professional victory at the Swinging Skirts LPGA Taiwan Championship and surpassed $1 million in career earnings.
The 2021 season was one of her most outstanding, highlighted by an Olympic gold medal in Tokyo, her first Major title at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, and her ascent to World No. 1.
Nelly comes from a family of accomplished professional athletes. Her father, Petr, was a distinguished tennis player who won the 1998 Australian Open; her younger brother, Sebastian, is also a professional tennis player; and her sister Jessica was a professional golfer.
With her confirmation, the Mexican tournament adds another elite player to the field, joining Lydia Ko as well as Mexican standouts Gaby López, Isabella Fierro, and María Fassi.
In 2025, the MÉXICO Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba marked the return of the LPGA to Mexico, organized by GS Sports Management. Tickets for the tournament are available at boletomovil.com.
