Nelly Korda crowned the undisputed queen at Mayakoba

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, May 3, 2026 — With a new course record at El Camaleón, American golfer Nelly Korda captured the second edition of the Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba, securing her third title of the LPGA Tour season and the 18th victory of her career.

Korda closed the tournament with a 69 (-3) in the final round, finishing with a total of 271 (-17), surpassing the mark set by Japan’s Chisato “Chizzy” Iwai, who won last year with 276 strokes.

It marked Korda’s second consecutive win, following her victory at the Chevron Championship in Houston, the first Major of the season. She becomes the first player since Lorena Ochoa to win the Chevron Championship and the following LPGA Tour event.

The American started her final round in spectacular fashion, recording an eagle on hole 5 and back-to-back birdies on holes 6 and 7, completing a sensational front nine. Her streak of 60 consecutive holes without a bogey ended on the 18th hole, where she dropped one shot—but by then, the title was already secured. She also became the first American to win in Mexico since Christina Kim at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational in 2014.

Korda finished four strokes ahead of Thailand’s Arpichaya Yubol, her playing partner, who claimed second place with a total of 275 (-13), celebrating her 24th birthday on May 3 with a runner-up finish.

China’s Yu Liu completed the podium after shooting a final-round 69 to reach 276 (-12), followed by American Brianna Do in fourth place at 278 (-10), after leading the tournament for two days.

Defending champion Chisato Iwai finished in 74th place with a total score of +7.

With this victory, 27-year-old Korda becomes the 26th American player to reach 18 LPGA Tour wins, the first since Lydia Ko in 2022, and the youngest to do so since Nancy López in 1980.

Additionally, the Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba awards Korda her 23rd point toward induction into the LPGA Hall of Fame, leaving her just four points shy of the 27 required for enshrinement.

For the Florida native, this marks her third season with three or more victories and her first win since reclaiming the No. 1 spot in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.
