Nelly Korda shines again and holds the lead at Mayakoba

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, May 2, 2026 — With a solid and consistent round, Nelly Korda maintained the lead at the Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba and moved within reach of her third victory of the LPGA Tour season.

The world number one looked dominant, recording three birdies on holes 5, 13, and 15, along with an outstanding finish on the 18th hole with an eagle, to close her round with a 67, five under par, and remain the sole leader.

In the overall standings, Korda extended her advantage over the field to a total of 202, fourteen under par, proving why she is currently the best player in the world.

“It’s always nice to finish a round with an eagle. I’m very happy with my game. I played solid golf today. I made a good par on the ninth, which was the only time in the round I really got into trouble. I tried to play it safe on holes where I didn’t want to be too aggressive. I feel good, I love competing. You’re never going to have your best game all the time. Golf is about being patient, having confidence that you’ll make mistakes, but not giving them too much importance and recovering quickly,” said Korda, who will be aiming to claim her 18th LPGA career title this Sunday.

The American holds a three-shot lead over Thailand’s Arpichaya Yubol, who posted the best round of the day with a 66, six under par, highlighted by six birdies, for a total of 205 (-11). The 23-year-old, ranked 187th in the Rolex Women’s World Rankings, is in her fourth year on the LPGA Tour and is enjoying her best week of the season at Mayakoba, still with a chance to secure her first tour victory.

In third place, four shots back, is Japan’s Minami Katsu, who carded a 69 (-3) for a total of 206 (-10).

Tied for fourth at 207 (-9) are China’s Yu Liu and American Brianna Do, who shot even par and dropped from the co-lead she held with Korda. In sixth place, another tie features Spain’s Carlota Ciganda and American Melanie Green, both at 209 (-7), with just one round remaining at El Camaleón Golf Course.

The fourth and final round of the tournament will begin Sunday at 6:45 a.m. local time.
