Korda’s caddie calls back-to-back wins “surreal”
Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, May 3, 2026.- Nelly Korda lifted the trophy at the Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba, reaching 18 LPGA victories after dominating El Camaleón course, which she has already placed among her favorites—just like her caddie, Jason McDede.
Jason described the course as fun: “We had a great week, we stayed at Rosewood… I think this is a good golf course. It’s fun to play, it’s challenging, it’s very tight, but it was a good week.”
Regarding the most challenging aspects of the course, he pointed to the wind, which complicates play, as well as the humidity in the air.
Korda completed the 72-hole tournament with a total of 271 strokes, setting a tournament record. She posted a combined -13 on par-5 holes across the four rounds and recorded just two bogeys. She also led the field in eagles (3) and pars (54) over the four days of competition, and was the only player to shoot in the 60s in all four rounds.
For Jason, winning two tournaments in a row was something he described as “surreal,” adding that the focus now shifts to the next event, noting that one of the keys to victory was having fun.
McDede is a fundamental piece of Korda’s team, and she thanked him during the awards ceremony, while Jason stood smiling nearby, satisfied after conquering El Camaleón.
