The MÉXICO Brand Joins Forces with the Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba
The Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba will make history in Mexican sports—not only because it marks the return of the LPGA to our country after eight years, but also because it is the only event in Mexico to feature the MÉXICO brand as the naming sponsor of such a prestigious event.
MÉXICO Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba will be the official name of the tournament, which will take place May 22–25 at the iconic El Camaleón Golf Course.
The announcement was made during a press conference attended by various state authorities, who reaffirmed the government’s support for the golf tournament organized by GS Sports Management.
In recent days, Gustavo Santoscoy Arriaga, president of GS Sports Management, held a meeting with Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, Secretary of Tourism of the Federal Government, and Bernardo Cueto, Secretary of Tourism of Quintana Roo, to discuss the organization of the event, during which an agreement was reached.
The MÉXICO brand is based on the country’s cultural and tourism richness, positioning it as a nation of great wealth and grandeur, with much to offer both national and international tourists.
Each letter in the MÉXICO logo, decorated with unique internal designs, represents a specific aspect of what the country offers its visitors:
- M: Pre-Columbian treasures
- É: Colonial heritage
- X: Cultural fusion and mestizaje
- I: Modernity, expressed through architecture and monuments
- C: Natural resources
- O: Beaches and coastlines
Now, joined with one of the most important events in the country and in one of the most visited tourist destinations, this partnership is set for success.
“We are very pleased to have the support of such an important brand. The fact that it is joining the return of the LPGA to our country speaks to this government’s commitment to promoting sports,” said Santoscoy Arriaga, president of GS Sports Management.
The tournament will feature 144 players, including Mexicans Gaby López and Isabella Fierro, competing over 72 holes during four days of play. The MÉXICO Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba will offer a $2.5 million purse.
A Grand Finale
As an added attraction, on Saturday, May 24, BACILOS will perform with their greatest hits, including “Caraluna,” “Mi primer millón,” “Tabaco y Chanel,” among others.
On Sunday, May 25, the final day, Jesse & Joy will take the stage.
The pop duo is one of the most recognized in Latin music and won the Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album in 2017.
Some of the Huerta siblings’ most popular songs include: “Espacio sideral,” “Llegaste tú,” “La de la mala suerte,” “Corre,” and “Mañana es too late” (featuring J Balvin), among many others.
