How the Mexican players stand after Round 1
Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, April 30, 2026.– Gaby López had said on Wednesday that her preparation for the Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba was better than in 2025—and she proved it at El Camaleón.
López posted a 68 (-4) to move into a tie for fourth place, igniting excitement among the home crowd. Her round included five birdies, one eagle, one bogey, and one double bogey. She was also one of seven players to record an eagle during the opening round.
The next-best Mexican is Ana Jiménez, tied for 43rd at even par. Jiménez recorded an eagle on hole 5, birdies on hole 13, and bogeys on holes 8, 9, and 15. She finished her round pleased with her performance: “I felt really good out there. I was striking the ball well—just didn’t make many putts today, but it still turned out to be a solid round,” she said.
Alejandra Llaneza sits tied for 61st with a 73 (+1), while María Fassi is tied for 85th after a 75 (+3).
Further down the leaderboard, Clarisa Temelo is tied for 97th with a 76 (+4), and Isabella Fierro is tied for 104th with a 77 (+5).
In a tie for 113th are Andrea Ostos and María Balcázar, both with rounds of 80 (+8), while Carolina Rotzinger is tied for 120th at 83 (+11).
The Mexican contingent will be looking for a stronger second round to climb the leaderboard.
