- Elite global field led by Nelly Korda, strengthened by Mexican talent including Gaby López, María Fassi, Isabella Fierro, and Clarisa Temelo.
- High-caliber competition featuring a field of 144 players, 72 holes over four days.
Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, April 14, 2026.- The countdown to the second edition of the MEXICO Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba has begun. With less than a month to go before the international competition, expectations continue to rise.
The stop at El Camaleón course has generated significant interest due to the participation of major LPGA Tour stars, including American Nelly Korda and Mexico’s Gaby López, Isabella Fierro, Clarisa Temelo, and María Fassi.
The MEXICO Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba will take place from April 30 to May 3. The tournament—the only LPGA Tour event in Latin America—is supported by RLH Properties, GS Sports Management, and the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council (CPTQ). The event not only attracts the world’s top golfers but also builds an ecosystem where sport, investment, and lifestyle converge. A total of 144 players will compete across 72 holes over four days for a prize purse of $2.5 million.
Playa del Carmen is a municipality located in the Riviera Maya, bordered by the Caribbean Sea, with tourism as its primary economic activity. It boasts an average annual temperature of 25.8°C (78.4°F) and, during the week of March 14–20, recorded 2,263 flight arrivals (589 domestic and 1,674 international) along with an 83.5% hotel occupancy rate.
With a 20-year legacy of hosting top-tier international tournaments (PGA Tour, LIV Golf, and now LPGA), El Camaleón has perfected a precision-driven operational model. This capacity enables the destination to manage the complexity of an elite tournament with the same excellence used to host large-scale concerts by artists like Luis Miguel or high-end corporate events, ensuring a flawless experience for players and attendees alike.
“Bringing the LPGA Tour to Mayakoba is not just about adding an event—it’s about opening the door to a new narrative: Mexico as a hub for international golf at its most sophisticated level,” said Gustavo Santoscoy, CEO of GS Sports Management. “This tournament not only showcases the level of global golf but also projects Mexican talent to worldwide audiences.”
The field supports that narrative.
“At RLH Properties, our vision is to establish Mayakoba as the premier international Sports Hub, where strategic investment in sports infrastructure merges with ultra-luxury hospitality. Hosting the MEXICO Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba for the second consecutive year reaffirms our commitment to positioning Mexico as a world-class stage capable of attracting the most demanding global audiences and generating a positive economic impact for the region,” said Luis Durán, CEO of RLH Properties, the group that owns Mayakoba.
This challenging course will host Nelly Korda for the first time. Currently ranked No. 2 in the world, the Olympic champion and multiple LPGA Tour winner recently captured the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in Orlando, marking the start of the 2026 season. That victory represented the 16th title of her career, including two major championships.
Gaby López will serve as the tournament’s leading host. Recently, the top Mexican player on the LPGA Tour finished fifth at the Fortinet Founders Cup in Menlo Park, California—her best result of the season—while also achieving her highest career ranking at No. 29 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, arriving highly motivated.
In 2025, the MEXICO Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba marked the LPGA’s return to Mexico, led by GS Sports Management. Beyond the competition, the event will offer a variety of activities for visitors and fans, including hospitality and gastronomy zones, fan engagement activities, interactive experiences, special events throughout tournament week, and the traditional Pro-Am, where guests and celebrities share the course with professional players.
The LPGA’s return to Mexico represents a turning point not only for golf but also for the country’s positioning on the global stage of high-level international events.
At Mayakoba, sport becomes a vehicle for branding and shaping the global perception of Mexico as a premium destination—where every swing reinforces its reputation as a leader in hospitality and world-class event organization.
