How did the Latin players perform in Round 2?
Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, May 1, 2026.– The Latin American players delivered a strong second round at the Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba, with three of the four advancing to the weekend.
Paraguay’s Sofía García led the group with an excellent 69 (-3), bringing her total to 139 (-5) and placing her in a tie for 7th. She carded birdies on holes 3, 5, 10, and 16, an eagle on 18, and bogeys on 4, 8, and 12.
Colombia’s María José Marín posted a 71 (-1) to reach a total of 142, sitting in a tie for 20th. The amateur recorded four birdies, one bogey, and one double bogey, backing up her invitation with a solid performance.
Ecuador’s Daniela Darquea also impressed, shooting a 70 (-2) to climb to a total of 145 (+1), placing her in a tie for 49th and securing her spot for the final rounds.
Puerto Rico’s María Torres was the only one who did not advance. She carded a 73 (+1) for a total of 157 (+13), finishing tied for 116th and missing the cut.
