Guseva Sets Her Sights on History in Mexico
Mayakoba, Quintana Roo – April 22, 2025 – As the México Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba approaches, taking place from May 22–25 in the stunning Mexican Caribbean, Nataliya Guseva is chasing a historic milestone: becoming the first Russian golfer to win on the LPGA Tour.
Born on March 6, 2003, in Moscow, Guseva had a successful amateur career, claiming various international titles across Europe. She joined the University of Miami in January 2021, quickly making her mark as part of the Miami Hurricanes women’s golf team. Just four months later, she was named Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Freshman of the Year.
Now 22 years old and ranked 70th in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, Guseva began her professional journey on the Epson Tour in 2022, where she made 13 cuts in 19 starts, including three top-10 finishes and her first professional victory at the Black Desert Resort Championship in Utah—an impressive feat in her rookie year.
In 2023, she finished T23 at the LPGA Q-Series, becoming the first Russian to earn an LPGA Tour card for the 2024 season. That same year, she also topped the LET Q-School in Morocco by four strokes, securing her membership for the Ladies European Tour (LET).
During her LPGA Tour rookie season in 2024, Guseva delivered six top-10 finishes, including runner-up performances at the Portland Classic and the Lotte Championship. She played 21 events, made 14 cuts, and earned $986,209, finishing 26th in the season-long standings—an exceptional debut campaign.
She also tied for third place at the Magical Kenya Ladies Open on the LET, ending 2024 ranked 78th in the world. To date, she has seven career top-10 finishes on the LPGA Tour and has amassed $1.1 million in career earnings.
In the ongoing 2025 season, Guseva has played seven events, making the cut in six of them. Her most recent result was a 20th-place finish at the JM Eagle LA Championship. Prior to that, she achieved her best result of the season with a T9 finish at the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards, on April 6 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
She also finished 22nd at the Ford Championship presented by Wild Horse Pass in Arizona, demonstrating her steady form and consistent progress. Guseva arrives in Mexico in strong shape, determined to continue her ascent—and to make history by becoming the first player from her country to claim an LPGA Tour title.
The México Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba 2025 will be contested at the prestigious El Camaleón Golf Course, featuring a $2.5 million prize purse. The tournament serves as a key lead-up to the U.S. Women’s Open, which will take place from May 29 to June 1 at Erin Hills Golf Course in Wisconsin.
